Vacuum Owl
About Vacuum Owl

Every vacuum is tested by hand by us.

Independent, hands-on vacuum reviews for US homes, not recycled roundups. We test every machine's suction and filtration, date-stamp our findings, and write the guides brands won't.

Who we are

An independent website for vacuum reviews

Vacuum Owl launched with a simple mission: help US vacuum owners and buyers pick the right machine and avoid getting stuck with one that can't handle their floors.

We're a small, dedicated team who got tired of the same old advice: out-of-date roundups, vague summaries, and articles that never actually touch the vacuum. So we built something different.

Every machine we recommend is tested by hand in real US homes and date-stamped with the day we last checked it. Suction in Pa and air watts, runtime, HEPA filtration, brushroll performance, self-emptying docks, and how it does across hardwood, carpet, and pet hair. Not recycled guesses. Not whatever a forum thread claims.

But we don't stop at reviews. We also write buying guides, by-surface how-tos, and troubleshooting and repair walkthroughs so you know exactly what to do when a vacuum stops picking up.

Our promise

Why trust Vacuum Owl?

We're Always Tuned In

Vacuum lineups change constantly. We track new model launches, firmware updates, and spec changes so our reviews reflect what a brand sells today, not what it sold last year.

We Answer to Readers, Not Brands

No pay-to-play. Brands can't buy a better write-up or soften how we describe their vacuum, which means our reviews aren't influenced by manufacturer relationships or ad deals.

We Test Every Machine by Hand

Every vacuum is tested in real homes, not a sponsored lab. We measure suction, runtime, and filtration, and run each machine across hardwood, carpet, and pet hair so you get the full picture.

We Date-Stamp Everything

A review with no date is useless. Every vacuum guide carries a "Last updated" date, and we re-test as new models launch. Because a suction number only matters if the date is current.

We Factor in the True Cost

A vacuum isn't done once you buy it. We flag the cost of replacement filters, brushrolls, and batteries, plus self-emptying dock bags, so you know what it really costs to own.

We Call It Like We See It

No sugarcoating. If a vacuum is one of the worst we've tested, that's exactly what we publish. Our independence means we answer to readers, not manufacturers.

Transparency

How we make money

Our work is funded primarily by display ads on the site. We also earn a small commission when you buy a vacuum through some of our links, typically up to 3% of your purchase. This costs you nothing extra.

Reader-funded

That's it. Display ads and affiliate commissions are how we keep the lights on.

We don't let brands pay to look better in our reviews. We don't soften a test verdict for a partnership. And we don't hand any manufacturer approval over what we publish.

Vacuum Owl operates as a fully independent publication. No hidden partnerships, no backroom deals with vacuum brands. We know that our long-term success depends entirely on earning and keeping your trust. We're not willing to trade that for a quick payout.

Your confidence in what we recommend matters more than any advertising check ever could.

Our standard

Accurate reviews take real effort

We test each vacuum by hand in real homes, measuring its suction in Pa and air watts, timing its runtime, weighing it, checking noise, and tearing down the filters to see what they actually trap. Then we date-stamp it and re-test it as new models launch. Every machine we recommend is backed by our own hands-on testing, not guesswork.

We set out to create the kind of vacuum reviews we always wished existed online: thorough, current, and straight to the point. We dig into the details, confirm what matters, and give you a clear answer. Is this vacuum actually worth buying, and which floors will it handle?

Help us grow

Spread the word.

If you find our content helpful, the best way to support us is by spreading the word. Share Vacuum Owl with a friend, recommend us to anyone shopping for a new vacuum, or simply use our links when you buy.

Your support helps us keep doing what we do: testing vacuums by hand, publishing in-depth buying and how-to guides, and covering troubleshooting and repair without compromising our independence.

We're building Vacuum Owl to be the go-to destination for honest, hands-on vacuum advice on Shark, Dyson, Bissell, Roomba, Roborock, and every brand you shop. A place where you get the truth, not the fluff.
